HJF is seeking a Standardized Patient Trainer to support the Val G. Hemming Simulation Center (Sim Center) located in Silver Spring, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the Sim Center. 

The incumbent will assist with recruiting, training and supervising Standardized Patients (SPs). Also tasked with managing, coordinating, and monitoring exercises involving SPs.


  1. Assists in managing, coordinating and monitoring SP exercises. (70%)
  2. Develops and participates in SP research activities. (10%)
  3. Collaborates in case development and scenario design and in teaching and evaluation exercises. (10%)
  4. Participates in quality assurance activities to include psychometric evaluation of teaching and assessment methods. (10%)
  5. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of applicable strategies and approaches to contemporary medical education; excellent communication skills; ability to troubleshoot technical procedural concerns; an ability to work independently and supervise others.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, allied health, social services or other related field required. 

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 0-2 years of relevant experience required. 

Work Environment: Set in an office environment.
