HJF is seeking a Project/Contract Manager needed to support the Veterinary Services Program (VSP), at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research/Naval Medical Research Center (WRAIR/NMRC) in Silver Spring, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to VSP.
Responsible for overall management and coordination of work. Shall provide management of the animal care personnel and other assigned personnel for their respective areas of responsibility. Individual shall have full authority to act in all matters relating to the daily operation. Provide on-site supervision to ensure that all functions are carried out in an efficient, professional manner, and shall assure that the policies and procedures for the WRAIR/NMRC are followed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database systems is necessary. Knowledge of Federal Regulations governing animal husbandry.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts (BS/BA) required.
Minimum Experience: 4 – 6 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in an animal research facility of similar size and scope.
Physical Capabilities: Long periods of standing and sitting.
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Required to be Certified Manager Animal Resources (CMAR) and American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) certified at the Laboratory Animal Technologist Level (LATG).
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Shall provide management of the animal care personnel and other assigned personnel for their respective areas of responsibility.
Work Environment: Lab setting.
Background: US Citizenship required; eligibility to obtain and hold Department of Defense issued Secret Clearance. Must have lived in the US 3 out of the past 5 years.
