HJF is seeking a full-time temporary Research Nurse to support the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, Maryland. .HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to IDCRP. Responsibilities are to perform a variety of duties to provide a full scope of quality nursing services in a clinical care facility for patients and to maintain a therapeutic environment through identifying, correcting, and reporting health and safety hazards. US Citizenship is required for this position. This is a temporary position in support of the PAIVED flu study this fall.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of procedures and techniques necessary for performing clinical and research tasks; ability to learn and become proficient in data acquisition and clinical responsibilities related to research protocols; excellent interpersonal skills.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Graduate from an accredited nursing program, Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. RN required
Minimum Experience: 4 to 6 years of nursing experience.
Physical Capabilities: Long periods of sitting, standing, escorting patients, carrying light items; frequent lifting, stretching and other physical exertion during positioning of patients and moving equipment; may encounter patients who are confused, agitated, or abusive.
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Licensed as a Registered Nurse Maryland, certified in basic cardiac life support (BCLS).
Work Environment: Office and clinical patient care area; possible weekend hours. Exposed to patients’ conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells, and contagious diseases.
Background: US Citizenship required; eligibility to obtain and hold Department of Defense issued Secret Clearance.
