HJF is seeking a temporary Web Programmer/Analyst Intern to support the Training and Professional Development for the Uniformed Services University (USU) and Center for Global Health Engagement (CGHE) in Rockville, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CGHE. 

The incumbent will be responsible for designing, developing, evaluating, and modifying web applications and/or databases to solve data management or business problems. 

The mission of the USU is to educate, train, and comprehensively prepare uniformed services health professionals, scientists, and leaders to support the Military and Public Health Systems, the National Security and National Defense Strategies of the United States, and the readiness of our Uniformed Services. The Center for Global Health Engagement's (CGHE's) mission is to provide operational support to the Department of Defense (DoD) Global Health Engagement (GHE) enterprise to meet national security objectives. Training and Professional Development Division focuses on meeting the training needs of military forces planning and executing Global Health Engagement Missions worldwide. 


  1. Gain understanding of division needs for web application and/or database functionality. 
  2. Analyze existing web applications and/or databases to optimize functionality to meet training requirements. 
  3. Review and recommend alternate applications to achieve division requirements/goals.
  4. Outline computer optimization strategy for Training and Professional Development requirements/goals.     
  5. Information management/oversight of all division web applications and databases.
  6. Actively seek opportunities to coordinate use of web applications and databases across all center divisions. 
  7. Evaluate and ensure sustainability of all on-line solutions.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Design of websites, web applications and/or databases. Ability to translate technical language for a diverse audience. Excellent team working skills and shared decision making. 

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or actively seeking degree in computer science.

Minimum Experience: 0-2 years’ experience.

Physical Capabilities: Prolonged sitting and working at a computer.

Period of Employment: 3-4 months.

Work Environment:  Office environment.
