HJF is seeking an Intern to support the Center for Limb Loss and MoBility (CLiMB) within the Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Department located at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle, WA. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Department.

This is a part-time, temporary position in direct support of research protocols involving individuals who have experienced limb trauma or amputation. The incumbent will assist with data collection and analysis within the Biomechanics Laboratory of the CLiMB. 


  1. Assist collection and processing of motion analysis and metabolic data
  2. Synthesize test session results and assist with generating reports
  3. Maintain files on research subjects
  4. Assist with maintaining equipment and computer resources
  5. Perform other duties as assigned experiments. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of biomechanics and familiarity with the function of gait laboratories and research protocols. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Matlab, Vicon Nexus, Cortex, and/or Visual 3D is desirable. 
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and staff. 
  • Ability to learn new software quickly, troubleshoot computer related issues, and provide a high attention to detail. 
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and handle multiple tasks is required.

Minimum Education: College student (undergraduate or graduate)

Minimum Experience: 0-2 years’ experience

Work Environment: The work environment is that of motion analysis laboratory located in a research center within a VA hospital.
