HJF is seeking an Onboarding and Duty Safety Officer to support the USU Operations Department at the Uniformed Services University (USU) located in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to USU.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing onboarding support to all HJF new hires at USU. They will work at USU with multiple departments, under the supervision of the USU Operations Director.
Facilitates information flow as a liaison between USU departments (PIs, department directors and PMs), the Facility Security Office (FSO), incoming new hires, and HJF HQ staff processing new hires (recruiters, HR business partners, HQ PMs).
Coordinates and monitors the status of USU security investigations for HJF new hires. Tracks completion of EQIP security investigation form and the DD Form 306 (Declaration for Federal Employment). Assists new hires with scheduling fingerprints.
Works closely with hiring supervisor to prepare first day logistics (base access, parking instructions, POC, work location and all information necessary to streamline new hire’s first day) and communicates this information with new hire prior to first day.
Assists with onboarding new-hires by ensuring completion of all required paperwork.
Assists new hire across campus to USU security office to obtain USU identification badge.
Supervises lower level administrator.
Coordinates personnel actions and hiring, working closely with HJF recruiting, security and program team members.
Act as a safety and security focal point for HJF employees on location.
Subject to facility protocols, assist the Home Office with carrying out established safety and security procedures and protocols.
Liaise with local safety and security offices to ensure site specific practices are known and communicated broadly.
Act as HJF’s information channel for all location safety and security matters
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of organizational objectives, the federal budget process, office automation; ability to work completely independently; ability to use sound judgment in solving problems; ability to coordinate many complex systems and programs at the same time; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Associate degree.
Minimum Experience: 0 to 2 years related experience in program management.
Work Environment: HJF HQ and University Environment. The incumbent will walk new hires throughout the university campus.
Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
