HJF is seeking a Safety and Security Coordinator to support the Occupational Safety & Security team within the Human Resources Department located at Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD. 

The Safety and Security Coordinator reports directly to the Occupational Safety & Security Manager. This position supports HJFs overarching security framework to provide both physical and occupational safety and security to our employees and client. As an administrative coordinator, the role will be focused on supporting the administrative requirements of onboarding employees, occupational surveillance, and report writing. 


  1. General Site Access support -
    • Assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in submitting and tracking required candidate/employee data. 
    • Submitting finger prints and communicating candidate/employee access status to HR teams and stakeholders as appropriate. 
    • Assist with communicating requirements as appropriate such as those related to medical surveillance, background investigation and medical privileging. 
    • Facilitate onboarding candidates and employees as appropriate to fulfill requirements for eligibility to perform work on the project.
    • Maintain familiarity with eligibility requirements for each background investigation and clearance level as well as the requirements for specific government host work site access. 
    • Maintains all active and archived files for verification and background check process 
    • Coordinate day-to-day operations of Safety and Security Services
    • Assist with outside agency response to urgent, emergency, or safety-related situations arising at facilities (to include military installations) where HJF employees are located.
  2. Background Investigation support -
    • Review background screens on a daily basis to ensure that checks meet company     requirements and compliance with policy escalating to recruiter and/or HR when additional information is needed.
    • Develop relationship with background screening vendor (ADP).
  3. Credentialing/ verification support -
    • Assist with medical credentialing process for medical providers appropriate to host site requirements. This includes performing verifications to include licensure, employment, certification and education.
  4. Non-Essential Job Duties -
    • Supports miscellaneous Occupational Safety and Security (OSS) projects as required such as preparation of training materials, work site compliance tracking, traveler safety and maintenance of OSS data.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Must have strong communication (verbal and written) skills.  Must be comfortable interacting with programs, employees, customers and government officials. Must be detail oriented, multi task effectively and be proficient with Microsoft Office. Ability to juggle competing demands, prioritize work in a dynamic environment, and practice good time management skills. Must be able to maintain eligibility to access government host sites and government computer networks.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

Minimum Experience:  2 years professional level administrative experience; preferably in Safety and Security. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Top Secret (TS) clearance. 

Preferred Experience: Experience serving as an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO). Experience tracking multiple projects and timelines. Familiarity with security clearance levels and the processes to attain government security clearances and background checks for employees. Active DOD Top Secret (TS) clearance . Experience implementing physical security and safety programs.

Physical Capabilities:  Ability to sit extended periods of time at a desk and computer. Ability to travel to and access government/ HJF work sites.

Work Environment:  Office environment, with occasional travel to off-site customer locations, including government facilities.
