HJF is seeking a Systems Administrator for the IT Operations Department located at the Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.

HJF IT Services designs, deploys and manages information systems used throughout Foundation supported administrative, laboratory, and clinical activities. The Windows Systems Administrator, as part of the IT Operations team, maintains and monitors Windows based systems and Citrix based application and desktop virtualization services supporting research and administrative activities under the direction of the Information Systems Manager, Information Technology Operations who establishes and provides general guidelines and overall priorities. Work is evaluated based on results achieved towards established goals and requirements, timeliness, application of sound business practice and efficient use of resources.

Responsibilities:

  1. Administer and maintain the Foundation’s Active Directory, including provisioning user accounts, decommissioning workstation objects, maintaining the overall OU hierarchy. 
  2. Assist in server maintenance and patching.
  3. Monitor audit reports for user, workstation and servers, directing anomalies to system engineers and/or information security as necessary.
  4. Microsoft Exchange Server administration, creating mail-enabled objects.  Archive mailboxes as part of user decommissioning process.  Troubleshoot user issues regarding mailbox permissions and/or access.  Create and maintain distribution lists.
  5. Printer server administration – Add/remove printer objects, drivers, security as necessary.
  6. Create customer service oriented documentation for both end users and other IT staff.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Experience administering Microsoft server operating systems including Windows 2008 R2, Windows 2012 R2, and Windows 2016; Experience organizing and maintaining Active Directory; Patch Management utilizing WSUS. SCCM experience a plus; Experience administering and maintaining Microsoft Exchange environments a plus; Experience with Azure AD and Office 365 a plus; Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with a wide variety of personnel of varied technical knowledge

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Bachelor's degree

Minimum Experience: 3 or more years exp.

Physical Capabilities:  Able to communicate verbally, ability to write and prepare documents in a variety of forms, ability to move within the work site, ability to travel to and move within supported sites.

Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Vendor training/certification preferred (e.g. Microsoft MCSA, MCSE) but not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls:  Incumbent reports to Information Systems Manager.

Work Environment:  Office environment; some local travel is required.
