HJF is seeking a Junior Scientist to support the Regenerative Medicine Department at the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) in Silver Spring, MD, to assist the day-to-day operations.
The incumbent will provide subject matter and technical expertise for the planning of experimental design and analysis in alignment with research and developmental objectives. The incumbent will work on various projects in concert with multiple internal and external partners to coordinate the execution of translational R&D deliverables. Incumbent is responsible for developing and supervising research projects and investigating the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and problems. He/she will work independently and collaboratively with investigators and scientific staff in the analysis and interpretation of raw and processed data including the development of detailed technical reports, quality control, data visualization (analytics/modeling), and assist with manuscript preparation and grant submissions.
The candidate will be responsible for initiating research and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team and other scientific staff. In addition, the candidate will be tasked to design, complete and interpret experiments and publish data in reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts. He/she will provide direct supervision and mentorship to both laboratory and surgical team members.
Minimum Education: PhD
Minimum Experience: 0 to 2 years directly related research experience. Knowledge of appropriate scientific area; ability to analyze, interpret and communicate data. Previous experience with whole animal physiology experiments is highly recommended.
Physical Capabilities: Long periods of standing and sitting; intricate work with hands; carrying of light and moderately heavy laboratory equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Supervises technical support and laboratory staff.
Work Environment: Laboratory environment; may involve working with biohazardous materials; may require working evenings and weekends.
