HJF is seeking Laboratory Technician to support the Pharmacology Department within Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to USU. 

Performs laboratory procedures to assist supervisors with various assays, and experiments. Provides support in various areas of a laboratory as needed. Assists with animal observations, surgeries and behavioral assays.


Responsibilities:

  1. May perform tissue culture and maintenance of IPSCS and other cell lines.
  2. May perform molecular and cellular analysis of animal tissues and cells.
  3. Handles and observes rodents and assists with surgeries and behavioral assays.
  4. Is responsible for ordering and receiving supplies and keeping records of all inventory.
  5. Maintains laboratory equipment and performs general procedures such as monitoring, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
  6. Documents and analyses results and records observations in accordance with good practice quality guidelines and regulations, standard
  7. operating procedures and protocol requirements.
  8. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Technical knowledge of scientific disciplines; knowledge of and skill in tissue culture technique and handling biological hazards and their safe use and disposal.

Minimum Education:Associate's degree required. 

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 0-2 years of relevant work-related experience. 

Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
