HJF is seeking a Part-Time Research Assistant to support the Subacute Low Back Pain Study in the Physical Therapy Department located at the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to BACH. US Citizenship is required for this position. This position is part-time for 20 hours/week and has flexibility, however, patients are scheduled during the morning times of 07:00 and 12:00.
The Research Assistant/Graduate Assistant will work with the rehabilitation specialist to implement the intervention and testing of the participants at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH), under the direct supervision of the principal investigator and on-site PIs. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and project manager, this individual will assist in the recruitment and retention of subjects, screening for eligibility, teaching the interventions, testing of participants, and scheduling & monitoring of participants’ progress. The Graduate Assistant/research assistant will participate in the weekly research meetings as needed and assist in the maintenance of subject files for the study. The Rehabilitation Specialist will be certified in either Basic Cardiac Life Support and maintain a current CITI training certificate (protection of human subjects training).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor; Knowledge of clinical or general research techniques is required; Experience in or exposure to research in a clinical setting is preferred; Familiarity and experience with research design, data collection and computerized systems, highly preferred; Ability to learn new software quickly, trouble-shoot computer related issues, and provide a high attention to detail; Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication; Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner; Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Software including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Minimum Education: BS in Kinesiology/Exercise Science or health-related field and significant related research experience preferred. Experience with intervention trials, data management and working with study participants will be an added advantage.
Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 0-2 years of experience in aerobic and strength testing of participants
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Certified in either Basic Cardiac Life Support and must have IRB human subjects training certificate from CITI online training.
Physical Capabilities: Long periods of standing and sitting, bending and stooping, movement of wheeled medical equipment.
Work Environment: Office and clinical patient care area.
Background/Security: Must be able to obtain a Favorable National Agency Check (NAC). US Citizenship is required for this position.
