HJF is seeking Education Coordinator II to support the Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) located at the Uniformed Services University. This position will be remote. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to GSN.
The primary purpose for the establishment of this position is to be the military mountaineering subject-matter expert (SME) for Operational Medicine Courses. The position is responsible for military mountaineering instruction taught during the mountain, cold weather and Dive Medicine courses. Instructional responsibility includes the complete development, evaluation, and revision of military mountaineering instructional materials (written and otherwise); implementation of new military mountaineering courses and subjects; review, evaluation, and analysis of the conduct of all military mountaineering instruction; and complete evaluation of student progress during all mountaineering instruction. Duties require a thorough knowledge of military mountaineering and extensive military mountaineering teaching experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Military mountaineering standards both basic and advanced. Knowledge of AMGA standards for climbing and mountaineering. Extensive experience in hands on mountaineering instruction.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Army Basic Mountaineering course graduate. Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of military mountaineering instructor experience.
Physical Capabilities: Long periods of sitting, standing, carrying packs up to 50 lbs. in weight, hiking over long distances for many hours. Long periods outdoors in all climates. Swimming capability sufficient to pass Dive course minimum swimming ability test. Travel to include over-night and multi-day is required.
Work Environment: Classroom, Mountain and Ocean outdoor environments.
