HJF is seeking a Biostatistician I to support the Wound Infections Research Area within the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) located in Rockville, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to IDCRP.   

The incumbent will provide biostatistical and programming support for clinical and/or laboratory research. This involves performing data management and statistical analysis on data collected from clinical trials and/or research studies.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Assists in the design of biomedical research protocols.  
  2. Provides statistical support via statistical consultation and data analyses throughout the courses of studies and assists in the preparation of statistical reports for presentations and publications.
  3. Provides programming support to other biostatisticians as necessary (e.g. generating analysis datasets using appropriate statistical software, conducting data-related queries, conducting basic power calculations, etc. 
  4. Performs and submits data queries as necessary.
  5. Assists with coordinating statistical analysis and protocol data between protocols by providing statistical consulting on an ad hoc basis.
  6. Provides relevant statistical and project status updates to research staff.
  7. Works with research staff to achieve the goals of the research program.
  8. Writes own SAS codes (or other statistical software) to merge/derive variables and validates outputs
  9. Demonstrates understanding of data collection processes and dataset structures at appropriate level; shares knowledges with other members.
  10. Performs other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in programming and statistics; knowledge of the design of clinical trials; knowledge of medical science and research; ability to communicate effectively; ability to contribute to the development of  presentations and manuscripts for publication; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Statistics or related field.

Minimum Experience:  2 to 4 years’ experience.

Physical Capabilities:  Extended periods of sitting and working at a computer.

Work Environment: Office or laboratory environment.

Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
