HJF is seeking a Research Scientist - Finite Element Analysis/Computational Bone Biomechanics to support the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command's Biotechnology High Performance Computing Software Applications Institute (BHSAI) [www.BHSAI.org] in Frederick, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the BHSAI. 

The incumbent will be working in an interdisciplinary environment to develop and apply computational solutions to biomedical problems, using bioinformatics, computational chemistry, predictive toxicology, pharmacology modeling, physiological data modeling, and systems biology. This position is focused on bone biomechanics and mechanobiology of bone remodeling and adaptation using finite element analysis (FEA). 

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and apply computational solutions to biomedical problems involving physiological modeling using FEA.
  2. Analyze and model data with relevance to biomechanics of bone and mechanobiology of bone remodeling and adaptation using FEA.
  3. Work simultaneously on multiple projects, involving a diverse and interdisciplinary team of scientists across multiple laboratories.
  4. Prepare research proposals, progress reports, and manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.
  5. Present research methods and scientific concepts at appropriate scientific conferences.
  6. Completes other projects as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills. and Abilities: Must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline, proven extensive computational experience, and a strong publication record.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline and post­ graduate experience.

Minimum Experience: 2 to 4 years’ of relevant experience.

Work Environment: The candidate is expected to simultaneously work on multiple projects, involving a diverse and interdisciplinary team of scientists across multiple laboratories.

Background: Must have lived in the US 3 out of the past 5 years; eligible to pass a NACI background.
