HJF is seeking a Graduate student enrolled at the Uniformed Services University, hired as a Research Assistant I to assist in carrying out one or more research projects developed as part of their qualification to Ph.D. candidacy, and/or assigned by their academic mentor. Responsible for research and/or development in collaboration with others. Meets regularly with thesis advisor to discuss work schedule and progress on research and related assignments, which may include attending meetings, conducting literature searches, designing experiments and conducting independent research, generating and analyzing data, operating laboratory equipment, drafting, editing and reviewing manuscripts and other written documents, and providing teaching assistance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of standard experimental research techniques; ability to follow instructions, take initiative to solve problems; excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, enrolled in graduate program.
Minimum Experience: 2 to 4 years of research experience
Physical Capabilities: Long periods of standing and sitting; handling various chemicals
Work Environment: laboratory or clinical environment
Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
