HJF is seeking a Scientific Research and Technical Editor to the Consortium of Health and Military Performance (CHAMP) in the Department of Military and Emergency Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Responsible for reviewing and editing CHAMP’s research-related products, to include scientific funding applications, publications and presentations as well as technical and annual reports.

Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews and edits technical and annual reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, scholarly presentations, summaries, scientific briefs, book chapters, abstracts, scientific posters, and other scientific products.
  2. Assists with preparation of PowerPoint slides.
  3. Works closely with scientific researchers in developing scientific products, including funding applications, scientific reports, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
  4. Develops written guidance and policy documents with the Director of Research, Chief Science Officer, and Executive Director.
  5. Ensures that the CHAMP annual report has logically sound structure and clear key concepts.
  6. Reviews and edits high-level briefs and presentations to Sponsors and/or DoD committees.
  7. Reports directly to the Director of Research.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of scientific research norms and processes, demonstrate critical thinking and logical reasoning skills, attention to details, ability to manage multiple deadline-oriented tasks, knowledge of statistical concepts, study design and research methodology, ability to follow general instructions, excellent communication and editing skills.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: PhD degree in appropriate discipline.
Minimum Experience: 10+ years of experience in a similar position

Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
