HJF is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Gynecologic Oncology (GYN-COE) Department located at the Women's Health Integrated Research Center (WHIRC) in Annandale, VA. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to GYN-COE. 

The Systems Administrator, designs, maintains and monitors Windows based systems and server virtualization services supporting research and administrative activities under the direction of the Executive Team who establishes and provides general guidelines and overall priorities. The Systems Administrator works as a member of the team; follows internal priorities, work schedules and goals and uses his/her own initiative and sound judgment. Work is evaluated based on results achieved towards established goals and requirements, timeliness, application of sound business practice and efficient use of resources.


  1. Act as a technical resource for maintaining and managing various operating systems and services supporting HJF business and research systems.
  2. Act as a technical resource for server virtualization services supporting HJF business and research systems.
  3. Deploy and support file, print, identity, web, application and security servers and services.
  4. Deploy a centralized domain architecture, group policies, and services.
  5. Deploy role-based delegation to IT Services support staff for administrative duties.
  6. Administer Microsoft Office 365 environment, including role-based delegation to other IT staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced skills with system device management and monitoring.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with a wide variety of personnel of varied technical knowledge.
  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Linix and Microsoft. Network +, Security+ and CCNA preferred. Experience with RedCap, AWS, and Virtual Servers a plus.  One to Two years system administration experience.

Minimum Education: High School diploma required. Vocational/Technical training or Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 0 – 2 years of relevant experience. 

Licenses, Certification or Registration: Vendor training/certification preferred (e.g. MCSE) but not required.

Work Environment: Office.
