HJF is seeking a Project Manager to support the Training and Education Directorate at the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) in Rockville, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CDP. 

The incumbent is responsible for providing administrative project oversight in order to maximize the effective use of project resources. Specific areas include: task coordination, internal and external communications, contracts, and purchasing.   


  1. Works with Director and Assistant Director in managing the Directorate’s activities and ensuring all grant and program goals are met.
  2. Manages a portfolio of projects and programs that fall under the purview of the Training and Education Directorate.
  3. Coordinates all aspects of CDP’s guest speaker training and education program, including acting as the POC for guest speakers, contracting and scheduling guest speakers, securing and contracting training venues, obtaining continuing education credit authorizations, collaborating with venue POCs, managing event registration, and ensuring creation, procurement, and delivery of training materials.
  4. Manages the Stand-Alone Courses program, including scheduling events, coordinating presenters, arranging technical resources and support, and working with program faculty to plan topics to be presented.
  5. Manages task assignments to other CDP staff for projects and programs under assigned portfolio.
  6. Responsible for tracking portfolio activity and providing regular updates on related activities to Directorate and CDP Leadership.
  7. Assists with the development and formulation of grant year goals.
  8. Provides advice on manpower utilization, workflow, and operational procedures to increase efficiency, productivity, and make overall improvements for the program.
  9. Performs other duties of similar scope and nature as assigned.
  10. Coordinates and approves the initiation and processing of purchase orders, supply sources, work orders and maintenance and renovation requests.
  11. Performs other duties as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Knowledge of organizational objectives, office automation; ability to work completely independently; ability to use sound judgment in solving problems; ability to coordinate many complex systems and programs at the same time; excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Bachelor's degree.

Minimum Experience:  2 to 4 years related experience in scientific project or program management.

Work Environment:  CDP’s headquarters office in Rockville, MD or, to a limited extent, in a telework setting.
