HJF is seeking Design Intern to support the Communications Department located at the HJF Home Office in Bethesda, Maryland. Under the general direction of the Director, in a team-centered environment, this job serves as a resource for all internal departments needing design, marketing and publication materials. 


  1. Works on a variety of illustrative and design assignments under the guidance and direction of the Creative Director.
  2. Assists Graphic Artists 2&3 in design and layout of publication materials, posters and preparing files for prepress. 
  3. Create charts, graphs and assorted visual aids using various predetermined media.
  4. Produce, trim and mount posters and signage for conferences and other events.
  5. Update inhouse materials (e.g. certificates, forms, templates).
  6. Records daily assignments and project specifics into design department database.
  7. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience in graphic design and Macintosh computers utilizing Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative suite. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel in the course of work.

Minimum Education: High School or College Student

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 0 – 2 years of experience.
