HJF is seeking a Laboratory Intern to support the 711 Human Performance Wing, Airman Systems Directorate, Bioeffects Division, Molecular Bioeffects Branch, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the Airman Systems Directorate.
The incumbent is responsible for assisting in research projects and applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential Air Force-related inventions, products and problems. The period of performance will be the summer of 2019.
Responsibilities are to provide routine semi-technical work involving a variety of laboratory support duties. Work involves performance of a variety of laboratory tasks of minimal complexity to assist in the maintenance and operation of a research or analytical laboratory. Hands-on experience in tissue culture along with the application of novel genomics approaches such as next generation sequencing will be performed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: High School Graduate, minimum GPA 3.8.
Minimum Experience: 0 - 2 years laboratory experience.
Physical Capabilities: Work involves long periods of sitting at a computer. Requires the ability to use biological safety hoods and handle chemicals.
Work Environment: Laboratory environments.
Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
