HJF is seeking a Summer Intern to support the Office of Sponsored Programs at the HJF Home Office in Bethesda, MD.

GOALS: Participate in proposal preparation and review process. Become familiar with reviewing budget and calculating budget on a spreadsheet, and match with budget justifications. Gain basic communication and customer service skills. Gain knowledge about grants administration and management. Become familiar with sponsors’ terms and conditions. Experience office working environment and process.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 

  1. Assist Grants Specialists with proposal review, budget development and review, text formatting, completing necessary documents and checklist.   
  2. Work closely with the Grants Specialist to be in contact with Program Managers and Principal Investigators to provide feedback about their proposals, attend kick-off meetings or update meetings. 
  3. Assist Grants Manager with proposal entries into FMP database. 
  4. Assist Grants Specialists with track and facilitate the internal process of proposals review and approval. 
  5. Assist Grants Specialist with award agreement document review, make sure award agreement matches with proposal submitted.  
  6. Assist Grants Specialist with filing proposal documents.
  7. Assist Grants Specialist with entering award information into FMP database.
  8. Assist Grants Specialist with other award management activities such as obtaining FCOI forms and filing.  
  9. Attend other assigned training and assist with other assigned duties. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Proficient in basic Excel and Word.   

Preferred Education/Training Requirements:  College Student

Minimum Experience: 0-2 years of experience. 

Physical Capabilities:  Requires long hours of sitting and working at a computer.

Work Environment: Office environment.
