HJF is seeking an Intern - HIV Research Area to support the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) located in Rockville, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to IDCRP. This is an approximately four month part time internship working 20 hours/week (hours are flexible) and we are looking for someone who can work on site and start immediately.

The intern will be responsible for research and/or development in collaboration with study sites for projects. Provides administrative and regulatory support to senior technical and professional staff.


  1. Compiles list of protocol changes and utilizes template language for IRB submissions. 
  2. Maintains current study staff/ collaborators personnel files (CVs, training records, licenses, etc.).
  3. Inventories clinical trial documents and reports on completion and compliance.
  4. Requests updates from site regulatory coordinators for trial document deficiencies. 
  5. Reminds sites of overdue visits and other pending items for site completion.
  6. Reports on general trial progress and HIV research area and individual task completion.
  7. Performs other administrative duties such as emailing study staff, electronic filing, electronic record keeping, scanning, and creating study documents.
  8. Completes other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques; ability to follow detailed instructions; good communication and analytical skills

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  High school diploma and enrolled in an Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline

Minimum Experience:  0 to 2 years laboratory experience

Physical Capabilities:  Long periods of standing and sitting

Work Environment:  Office environment

Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
