HJF is seeking a Research Scientist II to support the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command's Biotechnology High Performance Computing Software Applications Institute (BHSAl) located in Frederick, MD []. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the BHSAI. 

The incumbent will be working in an interdisciplinary environment to develop and apply computational solutions to biomedical problems, using bioinformatics, computational chemistry, predictive toxicology, pharmacology modeling, physiological data modeling, and systems biology. This position is focused on bone biomechanics and mechanobiology of bone remodeling and adaptation using finite element analysis (FEA).


  1. Formulates research projects, develops innovative approaches, designs and implements experimental protocols related to computational models.
  2. Continuously surveys the scientific literature to generate novel ideas and advance projects and programs.
  3. Develops necessary new technologies and protocols.
  4. Collects, processes, and interprets experimental data and model outputs.
  5. Trains, and in some instances supervises, junior  research scientists.
  6. Assists in the identification, development, and maintenance of collaborations with both internal and external research groups for development of new approaches to existing research problems.
  7. Prepares research proposals, progress reports, and manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.
  8. Presents research methods and scientific concepts at appropriate scientific conferences. 
  9. Completes other projects as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  The candidate is expected to simultaneously work on multiple projects, involving a diverse and interdisciplinary team of scientists across multiple laboratories

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Ph.D. in a related discipline, post-graduate experience, and a strong publication record.

Minimum Experience:  2 to 4 years experience

Background: Must have lived in the US 3 out of the past 5 years; eligible to pass a NACI background.
