HJF is seeking an Academic Institution Data Analyst to support the Office of Accreditation and Organizational Assessment at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to USU.

The primary function of the Academic Institutional Data Analyst is to support institutional assessment of University effectiveness in reaching its strategic objectives and delivering outstanding student outcomes.


In support of assessment of institutional effectiveness and student outcomes, conduct:

  1. Management of institutional data for a variety of internal and external constituencies.
  2. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of internal and external data .
  3. Database management and data analysis; automation of data retrieval and reporting.
  4. Development of systems and dashboards for compiling, organizing and visualizing data collected from various sources.
  5. Analysis and create written reports necessary to provide a comprehensive organizational assessment.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Experience with database management, data analysis and data cleaning
  • Experience with evaluating research methodologies for institutional application
  • Experience with SAS, SPSS, STATA, R or other statistical packages
  • Experience with BI tools


  • Experience or strong interest in higher education, health professions, biomedical research, and/or military education
  • Understanding of educational data and, academic accreditation processes
  • Experience with strategic planning process and business intelligence tools
  • Experience with DOD, military health system
  • Experience with bibliometric analysis
  • Experience with balanced scorecard methodology for strategic management

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Master's or Ph.D in information systems, data science, higher education administration, management, public policy, or related field.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position entails no supervisory responsibilities. The Academic Institution Data Analyst will report directly to the Director, Strategic Management and Integration. 

Physical Capabilities and Work Environment: The Work is sedentary in nature. Work is performed in an office setting.

Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
