HJF is seeking a Physician to support the University Counseling Center at the Department of Family Medicine, School of Medicine in the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), located in Bethesda, Maryland.  HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to USU.  

Responsible for the treatment of patients during the progression of their disease; and for assuring accuracy of complex clinical documentation on patients’ records, maintaining confidentiality.


  1. Provides treatment to patients during the course of their disease, and counsels patients regarding the effects of drugs or processes.
  2. Directs and participates in residency training programs, rounds, conferences, medical personnel training programs.
  3. Provides consultation to the School of Medicine Office of Student Affairs and Graduate Studies Program, as well as the Graduate School of Nursing regarding student retainability, treatment options, and wellbeing.
  4. Provides consultation on behavioral health concerns for the University Family Health Center.
  5. Provides relevant program status reports to the institution, regulatory agencies, and sponsors of the clinical research programs.

Nonessential Job Duties:                                                                     

  1. Prepares scientific papers for presentation at local and national meetings and for publication in medical and scientific periodicals.
  2. Performs other assignments as required.

Job Specifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of clinical; knowledge of medical science; ability to communicate effectively; ability to make effective presentations and publish; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  M.D. or D.O. degree.

Minimum Experience:  Six or more years of related experience.

Physical Capabilities:  Bending, standing, and sitting.

Required Licenses, Certification or Registration:  Licensure to practice medicine within the continental United States; Board certified or board eligible for certification in the Psychiatry.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls:  May supervise clinicians, scientists, researchers or medical support staff.

Work Environment:  Clinic and office environments.
