HJF is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health (NCDMPH) in Rockville, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services NCDMPH.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for research and/or project development in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff.  This position will exercises technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of research and education that contribute to project strategies.


  1. Plans, conducts, and completes investigations and projects under the supervision of the NCDMPH Director.  Assignments require the management and performance of complex research projects, determinations, and analyses involving multiple procedures.
  2. Develops methods and procedures for research projects.
  3. Writes and edits experimental results for publication in technical and peer-reviewed journals.
  4. Performs data analysis and interpretation and verifies and corrects data entry.
  5. Supervises junior staff in the planning, execution, and analysis of projects.
  6. Performs medical education, en route care, and disaster medicine related research projects, including collection and organization of data.  Makes detailed observations about experiments.
  7. Coordinates and communicates, via written and verbal means, with other personnel connected with projects both on and offsite.
  8. Submits documents and coordinates with USU’s Institutional Review Board, and journals for scholarly dissemination of findings.
  9. Assists with grant writing and grant submission.
  10. Coordinates research and educational projects as assigned including meeting and conferences with subject matter experts.
  11. Interacts with other agencies and organizations to develop and conduct collaborative projects and research.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   Knowledge of extremely complex research and project planning procedures; ability to meet deadlines of projects; good communication and analytical skills

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Master's degree in scientific discipline required.

Minimum Experience:  4-6 years directly related research & project management experience; preferably 6+ years

Physical Capabilities:  Long periods of standing and sitting

Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls:  Supervises junior staff

Work Environment:  Office and simulation center environments

Background:Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card; eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
