HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Intern to support the Traumatic Injury Research Program in Rockville, Maryland. Responsibilities include the EEG data collection and management of data to assist supervisors with research and to provide support in various areas as needed.


  1. EEG application of electrodes and data collection.
  2. Organize and manage electronic research records and/or paper research data collections.
  3. Run queries and generate reports.
  4. Import and export data.
  5. Perform quality assurance routines.
  6. Assists in general organization and efforts to improve efficiency and quality as needed.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of clinical environments, research processes, and research involving human subjects.
  • Skills working with computers, protecting patient privacy and confidentiality, and performing data management duties.
  • Effective listening and communication skills.
  • Abilities managing details, following directions, working independently, contributing to team activities, and meeting goals and deadlines.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:

  • Good grades in college level courses in liberal arts, science, mathematics, health care profession, social sciences, computer science or another area of study.
  • Strong letters of recommendation.
  • Willing to complete human subject protection training and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) training, and develop competency applying EEG to human subjects for data collection. Must also be willing to run data collection protocol independently.

Minimum Experience: 0 to 2 years’ experience

Physical Capabilities: Handle and organize electronic and paper research material; requires long periods of standing, working at a computer and/or preparing documents for scanning.
