HJF is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician to support the Administrative Support Division of the Uniformed Services University (USU) located in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides technical, scientific, and programmatic support services to USU.
The Technician helps to maintain and repair equipment used within research and clinical laboratories. This includes the ability to evaluate, install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair sophisticated/complex medical equipment and/or systems and provide training, assistance, and guidance to lower-graded technicians.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed to work in a team environment. Practical knowledge of a wide range of technical engineering methods, principles, requirements, work techniques, and practices, and the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to diagnose and repair most equipment typically located in a medical or medical research facility. Familiar with regulatory guidance to include Joint Commission (JC); College of American Pathologists (CAP); Safe Medical Devices Act (SMDA); Environmental Protection Agency; and Code of Federal Regulations (i.e., 21 CFR (Laser & Ultrasounds) and 29 CFR (Safety in the Workplace). Ability to work independently, use sound judgment in solving problems. Able to provide technical training, assistance, and guidance to lower-graded technicians. Excellent record keeping ability.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology (or related field such as electronics or engineering) and achieved Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) status.
Minimum Experience: 2 to 4 years related experience in scientific project or program management
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) status.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Supervises support technicians
Work Environment: Medical or medical research facility
