The Henry M. Jackson Foundation is seeking a Research Associate to support the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress of the Psychiatry Department at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to USUHS.

The Department has active research programs in the Basic and Clinical Sciences and Neurosciences. In addition to intramural research projects, the Department maintains active research funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Science Foundation, the Department of the Army and the Department of the Air Force. The department has ongoing collaborations with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, is sponsor of the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress, and provides psychiatry residency training through its affiliations with Walter Reed Army Medical Center, National Naval Medical Center and Malcolm Grow Air Force Medical Center and the National Capital Area Graduate Medical Education Consortium.


  1. Assists in designing, developing, executing and implementing scientific research and/or development related to disasters, trauma, and/or suicidality.
  2. Assists in development of study methodology.
  3. Performs basic behavioral science research and data analysis.
  4. Interpretation and application of data analyses.
  5. Assists with the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.
  6. Assists with the training of research assistants.
  7. All other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 0-2 years of familiarity with military medical system desirable. Knowledge of appropriate scientific area; ability to analyze and interpret data.

Minimum Education: Master's degree

Physical Capabilities: Walking, standing, and sitting

Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: May provide guidance to project staff.

Work Environment: Works in a well-lighted and heated office.
