The Suicide Care, Prevention, and Research (CPR) Initiative at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology in Bethesda, Maryland is accepting applications for a Research Assistant II. The candidate to be hired will perform telephone-based follow-up behavioral health assessments with research participants recruited into a psychotherapy trial for the prevention of suicide. The assessment packet consists of self-report measures (e.g., the Beck Depression Inventory) and clinician-administered measures (e.g., Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, Scale for Suicide Ideation). Each phone session may take up to 90 minutes and assessors are blinded to the randomization condition. Imminent suicide risk assessments may be necessary in certain circumstances and therefore, the applicant must have a strong foundation in crisis management and safety planning.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Applicants must have a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in administering psychological assessments within a research context as well as the ability to work with highly vulnerable, at-risk military populations are highly desired.
Minimum Experience: 1-2 years of psychological testing experience
Travel: None required
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Licensure preferred. Supervision for those without licensure may be provided.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Supervises junior staff
Work Environment: Suicide CPR Initiative, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences
Preferred Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday 2pm – 7pm (20 Hours per Week) OR
Monday through Wednesday 2pm – 7pm and 5 Hours on Saturdays or Sundays (20 Hours per Week)
