The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) is seeking an Environmental Protection Specialist to support research and program objectives at the Naval Medical Research Unit ‐ San Antonio (NAMRU‐SA) located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NAMRU-SA.

Responsibilities:

  1. Compose condensed EPA materials in compliance with environmental laws, specifications and requirements focusing on the specifics of the project for use in the department and for publication in the Federal Register.
  2. Work with EPA staff to research topics on environmental issues necessary for the departmental publications meeting departmental specifications.
  3. Summarizes environmental protection laws, regulations, executive orders and standards for departmental staff and supervisors for use in the project.
  4. Composes summary progress reports to departmental supervisors as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel software programs; Knowledge as a Unit Environmental Coordinator; Knowledgeable in Employee Safety and Occupational Health matters; Completed OSHA 2015 Hazardous Material or equivalent (OSHA) Course

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree.

Minimum Experience:  2 to 4 years experience.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior approval of the Vice President of Human Resources.
