HJF is seeking a Production Manager to support the Design Department located at the Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. Manages and directs clients and work requests, coordinates production, purchases supplies, and day-to-day administrative operations of the Design Department. Candidate must be a team-oriented, highly organized individual with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manages the client/task database and cost centers connected to all requests. Works with the Creative Director to plan and direct production priorities for all tasks in keeping effective workflow.
  2. Defines, documents, implements and supports continual design process improvement.
  3. Manages and directs daily interaction with all clients and outside vendors.
  4. Conducts weekly job status meetings to gather and share information for clients and design team.
  5. Attends business meetings with Creative director to facilitate client and vendor relationships.
  6. Assists Director to create estimates, timelines, schedules and invoices.
  7. Enters purchase orders, fulfills payment of invoices, establishes and maintains vendor records.
  8. Negotiates pricing with vendors and ensures all consumable material stock is maintained so production is not affected.
  9. May negotiate pricing and terms with outside design contractors when necessary.
  10. Guides, directs and supervises daily activities of production staff, including auditing all cost centers charged and approving timesheets.
  11. Works with Creative Director to develop policy and procedures for departmental functions.
  12. Participates as needed in special client projects
  13. Perform other duties as required.

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of general office procedures and production processes.  Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Macintosh and PC computer proficiency with working knowledge of Filemaker Pro, MS Office software.  Knowledge of Adobe CS is a plus.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: A.A. Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience: 4 – 6 years’ experience of relevant work experience.

Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift and/or move items up to 25 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Incumbent reports to the Creative Director, Design Department. Incumbent supervises Design Department staff.

Work Environment: Office environment
