HJF is seeking a Data Analyst I for the DoD Birth and Infant Health Registry in the Deployment Health Research Department (DHRD) located at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) in San Diego, California. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the DHRD.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and manages research projects.
  • Independently performs data management, cleaning, and manipulation using SAS.
  • Conducts statistical analyses using SAS, including, but not limited to multivariable logistic regression and survival analysis.
  • Writes programmatic reports and scientific manuscripts.
  • Reviews and remains current with the literature on data management, statistical methods,and military and reproductive health.
  • Prepares and presents informal and formal briefings at various international, national, and military conferences and meetings.
  • Reviews and assesses the work of other professionals in the field.
  • Contributes to the study team by accomplishing related duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of epidemiology, biostatistics, disease etiology, and preventive strategies.
  •  Knowledge of administrative claims data and use of diagnostic and procedural codes in analysis (e.g., ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM / ICD-10-PCS, CPT) is preferred.
  •  Knowledge of observational epidemiologic study design and methods.
  • Skills in use of SAS, EndNote, word processing, spreadsheet, graphic, email, and database software.
  • Skills in writing memorandums, correspondence, protocols, abstracts, manuscripts, and proposals.
  • Skills in scientific oral presentations.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently.
  • Ability to work with professionals from various fields, organizations, and levels.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor's degree and 0- 2 years experience.

Physical Capabilities: Walking, standing, must be able to read reports, labels and use computer, must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers, must be able to write, type, and use phone system

Clearance: It is a condition of employment with the Naval Health Research Center that you undergo a favorable National Agency Check with Local Agency and Credit Checks (NACLC) investigation, which will include being fingerprinted, and obtain a security clearance of secret for this position. If a favorable NACLC is not received, your employment with the Foundation would terminate. Candidates will access DoD databases that have classified information.
