HJF is seeking a Research Associate to support the Preventive Medicine and Biometrics (PMB) Department located in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to PMB. Responsible for research collaboration and development under the direction of the scientific director and other research staff.  Supports the design, execution and interpretation of research that contribute to the program’s strategic research priorities for health services research.  Assists with the process of submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) documents and Data Use Agreements (DUA).

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, conducts, and completes investigations under the supervision of the Scientific Director.  Assignments require the performance of background research for health service topics, methods, conducting research protocols and analyses.
  2. Preparation of research documents for grants, Institutional Review Board and Data Use Agreements.
  3. Assists with the writing and editing of research results for publication in technical and peer-reviewed journals.
  4. Performs routine data analysis and verifies and corrects data entry.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of health service research, IRB protocols, and Data Use Agreements; ability to meet deadlines of projects; good communication and analytical skills. Knowledge of SAS, SPSS, STATA, R, NVIVO or other analytical software packages.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Master’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, healthcare management or other related science fields.

Minimum Experience:  0 to 2 years of directly related research experience

Physical Capabilities:  Requires long periods of sitting and standing at a computer in an office environment.

Required Licenses, Certification or Registration:  Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.
