HJF is seeking a Research Program Intern to support the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) located in North Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to IDCRP.

Research Program Intern responsibilities include supporting development of the scientific program tracking database, as well as collecting and entering data in the database and helping with identification of new form/report needs. Our ideal candidate has knowledge and experience with Microsoft Access, especially form and report development. You will work with the IDCRP Deputy Science Director and other IDCRP team members.

Responsibilities:

  1. Developing and modifying forms in MS Access.
  2. Developing and modifying reports in MS Access.
  3. Helping gather requirements for new forms & reports.
  4. Developing and modifying queries in MS Access.
  5. Assisting with developing and modifying tables in MS Access.
  6. Developing and modifying macros in MS Access.
  7. Collecting and entering data in MS Access.
  8. Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
  9. Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong Microsoft Access knowledge to include queries, modifying tables, creating new forms, and modifying reports. Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices. Good command of English both oral and written and customer service skills. Great attention to detail. Ability to plan and prioritize work. Ability to self-start and work independently. Ability to interface with investigators, research staff, and study participants.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: This position requires the equivalent of a High School degree or college coursework with 1 - 2 years related experience. An Associate's degree with 1-2 year’s related experience is preferred, but not required.

Physical Capabilities: Walking, standing, must be able to read reports, labels and use computer, must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers, must be able to write, type, and use phone system. Must be able to lift 10 lbs.

Work Environment: Normal office working conditions.
