HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to support the research in the laboratory of Dr. Galina Petukhova in the Dept. of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), Bethesda, Maryland.  HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to USU.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, carry out and interpret the results of research projects.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Write manuscripts and present data at Scientific Meetings and Conferences.
  • Keep detailed records of the experiments.
  • Assist with training laboratory staff as needed.
  • Participate in Departmental and School activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness of laboratory areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Knowledge of appropriate scientific area and advanced technical skills; ability to design, troubleshoot and interpret experiments

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  PhD in a related scientific discipline

Physical Capabilities:  Long periods of standing and sitting; intricate work with hands; carrying of light and moderately heavy laboratory equipment

Supervisory Responsibilities:  May provide guidance to laboratory staff

Work Environment:  Laboratory environment; work with small animals; may involve working with biohazardous materials; may require working evenings and weekends
