HJF is seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect to support the IT Operations Department located at Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.

HJF IT Services designs, deploys and manages information systems used throughout Foundation supported administrative, laboratory, and clinical activities. The Senior Enterprise Architect, as part of the IT Operations team, is responsible for the overall design and implementation of information systems that will adequately support HJF research and administrative activities under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer who establishes and provides general guidelines and overall priorities. Work is based on results achieved towards established goals and requirements, timeliness, application of sound business practice and efficient use of resources.

Responsibilities:

  1. Analyzes system requirements and defines system architecture that will meet business needs, including server infrastructure, capacity planning, storage requirements, and networking configurations.
  2. Fills a senior architect functional role with in-depth portfolio related technology specialization to build quality infrastructure solutions that meet the requirements and advises clients on solution offerings, strategy, designs, specific technologies, implementation approaches and alternatives / tradeoffs.
  3. Leads in design and testing of business continuity and disaster planning methodologies
  4. Ensures that architecture project roll-outs meet security standards and be effectively integrated with current applications.
  5. Leads Change Advisory Board as part of the organization’s IT change management platform.
  6. Properly document all systems and network infrastructure and manage change in accordance with business best practices.
  7. Develops a long-term strategic utilization plan for HJF’s IT systems and helps “as is” architectures become “to be” architectures through phasing and cost benefit analysis
  8. Responsible for management of all HJF Data Centers.
  9. Uses multi-discipline skill set to resolve technical issues throughout enterprise.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in network architecture and engineering to include Cisco Networking and Firewalls
  • Proficient in SAN architecture, VMware, and Windows server environments
  • Skilled in network device management and monitoring, including command line skills and facility with UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud strategies using cloud and hybrid cloud frameworks, including AWS and Azure.
  • Extensive experience in Windows Group Policy administration, Active Directory, and WSUS
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with a wide variety of personnel of varied technical knowledge.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree with a focus on Information Technology courses or 10 years related experience.

Minimum Experience/Training Requirements: 4 – 8 or more year’s directly related experience. 

Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Vendor training/certification, Network +, Security + preferred (e.g. Cisco CCNA) but not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Incumbent reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

Physical Capabilities: Sitting, standing, walking and traveling to customer sites.

Environment: Office environment; some local travel is required.
