HJF is seeking a Research Bioinformatics Intern to support the (Orthopaedic Oncology and Osseointegration group), located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to WRNMMC.
Responsibilities are to provide routine semi-technical work involving a variety of bioinformatics, statistical and data management support duties. Hands-on experience in the various applications and analysis using SAS, STATA, R and/or Python to perform data curation, extraction and modelling. Specifically, this position will assist researchers with small and large multicenter research datasets being used in the analysis of clinical treatment and diagnosis.
1. Assist with data curation, storage, and safe guarding of ongoing clinical research databases.
2. Extract, transform, aggregate, and manage data sets
3. Perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and data modelling under the direction of research investigators.
4. Maintains research records and safe guard of ongoing and future clinical research databases.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and oral communication skills. Knowledge of research methods, proficiency in Microsoft Office, relational databases, data uploading, and data set creation for quality assurance and control purposes; Ability to understand and learn medical terminology related to the orthopaedics, osseointegration and related medical specialties. Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time, meet deadlines and to work with minimal supervision.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: High School Student (or college)
Minimum Experience: 0-2 years’ experience
