HJF GIS is seeking an Intern Summer hire to document standard operating procedures, policies, and guidelines for information systems employed throughout Foundation supported administrative, laboratory and clinical research activities.  Under the general direction of the SOC Manager, the student intern will take recommendations on definitions of security architecture, including the development and implementation of effective security documentation processes for all platforms within HJF’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  1. Document security events and incidents from SIEM, Firewall (FW), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Antivirus (AV), Network Access Control (NAC) and other client data sources.
  2. Collaborates with team members on security designs and frameworks for technology systems by defining process, writing rules and outlining architecture for creating secure networks and implementing intrusion-detection systems.
  3. Develops security artifacts and/or standards and policies across multiple IT platforms, including, but not limited to: Mainframe, Client Server, and Web-based systems.
  4. Ensures all policies reflect current standards in place including FISMA and other industry standards.
  5. Monitors compliance and conducts periodic reviews of policies
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Willingness to learn patch management lifecycle. Knowledge of Windows and Unix operating systems. Hands-on experience a plus. Background in at least 2 of the following domains:  security products and technologies, security engineering, networking protocols and datacenter; security analysis and investigations.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  BA/BS or MA/MS in Engineering, Cybersecurity, or Information Systems preferred or course track preferred

Minimum Experience:  0 - 2 years of security policy and governance. Coursework towards Cybersecurity major strongly preferred

Physical Capabilities:  Sitting, standing, walking and traveling to customer sites.

Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Cybersecurity courses strongly preferred

Work Environment:  Office environment; some local travel may be required.
