HJF is seeking a Physiologist to support the Naval Medical Research Unit Dayton (NAMRU-D) located at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH in Dayton, OH. Provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NAMRU-D. Responsibilities are to provide aeromedical laboratory support.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
The Physiologist has a strong background in physiological research methodology with experience in research methods, design, and statistical analysis in a research setting as well as in animal physiology and translation to human physiology and performance. Strong technical writing background with experience in writing research proposals, standard operating procedures, animal use protocols for approval by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (human use/Institutional Review Board protocols a plus), technical reports, journal articles, and conference papers. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment but also self-motivated and capable of working independently and with others. Proficiency in the use of common statistical analysis software, to include SigmaPlot, SPSS and SAS. Must be willing and able to work nontraditional hours such as evening, nights and some weekends during periods of data collection.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: M.D. or Ph.D. with at least 2 years of experience in animal physiology, or a related scientific field
Master’s Degree with at least 4 years of experience in animal physiology or a related scientific field
Minimum Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience conducting original research, including the design and implementation of protocols with animal models, database design, data analysis, and report production.
Physical Capabilities: Requires long periods of working in a laboratory setting and/or at a computer; may lift materials weighing no more than 30 lbs.
Security Clearance: This is a Position of Trust. Must submit to and be able to complete a background investigation. U.S. citizenship required.
Work Environment: Office and laboratory environment.
