HJF is seeking postdoctoral fellow or a scientist research position is available immediately in the US Military HIV Research Program (MHRP) located at the Walter Reed Army Research Institute (WRAIR) in Silver Spring, MD. We are currently seeking a passionate candidate with a strong background in molecular biology and interest in infectious diseases. The position will focus on understanding how human epigenetic/transcriptomics variation contributes to differences in infectious disease susceptibility and pathogenesis using next-generation sequencing (NGS), phenotyping and functional assays. The incumbent will work on validating host restriction factors in infectious diseases caused by HIV, Dengue and Zika in the context of natural infection, treatment and vaccine studies.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated communicative team player with a PhD in genomics, molecular biology or other relevant scientific discipline. The candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and must have strong hands-on experience with such techniques as sequencing, genotyping, real time PCR, gene expression analysis, molecular cloning, RNAi, tissue culture, infection assays, etc. Experience in flow cytometry, NGS or bioinformatics (Programming) is desirable. The candidate should have excellent writing and communication skills. Must have published in scientific journals. Depending on the position the candidate will need to be able to supervise staff.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Ph.D. with research experience in molecular biology or a related field.
Minimum Experience: 0 to 2 years of postdoctoral experience for the postdoctoral position. Must have lived in the US for at least 3 consecutive years. This position is only open to US citizens and permanent residents.
Work Environment: laboratory environment, may require working evenings and weekends
Desirable: Bioinformatics tools, programming
