HJF is seeking a Performance Psychology Education Specialist to support the Human Performance Resource Center at the Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP), Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. Responsible for reading, analyzing, and preparing documents, presentations, white papers, and other research/education related content to help educate Warfighters, family members, Commanders, and health care professionals in the area of the psychology of human performance.

 Responsibilities:

  1. Helps review sport psychology, performance psychology, psychology of excellence and leadership, and other fields of literature/information as relevant to the program as a whole and for individual projects and tasking within the program.
  2. Reviews and translates cognitive, sport, psychological, industrial/organizational, and physical performance literature into educational materials.
  3. Assists in the development of educational materials including written, multimedia, print, graphic, and social media products and carries out related tasks with other educational and support program staff.
  4. Tests website pages of educational Mental Fitness content and submits requests for regular maintenance to workflow.
  5. Facilitates partnerships with DoD organizations through presentations, training, consultation, and other educational programs.
  6. Helps evaluate the significance of new directions and emerging trends in human performance optimization in accordance with DoD missions and objectives.
  7. Works with Content Lead to establish and maintain databases for tracking and tabulating new information related to performance psychology.
  8. Assists in formulating the military performance psychology education and research needs of the line in coordination with the assigned Senior Scientist and the Executive Director of CHAMP.
  9. Evaluates web usage analytic data to note trends and sets priorities for new content.
  10. Assists Content Lead with obtaining additional funding and outreach efforts, as directed.
  11. Works collaboratively with other staff to complete other projects as needed.
  12. Develops new performance psychology products and curricula for ongoing education efforts.

Required Knowledge Skills, and Abilities: Must have experience in interpreting research data and peer-reviewed publications. Must have experience in performing literature reviews. Must be proficient at translating dense scientific concepts into clear and simple lay language for the Warfighter community. Experience working directly with members of the military community is strongly desired. Additionally, incumbent must have demonstrated skill in being able to balance self-directed and independent work with duties as an integral part of a team in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Master’s degree in Social, Industrial/Organizational, Health, Positive, Sport/Performance Psychology, or related field or four years of experiences in human performance research.

Minimum Experience: 0-2 years

Work Environment: Works in a well-lighted and heated office, may be required from time-to-time to work in other setting
