HJF is seeking a Part-Time Administrative Assistant to support the Traumatic Injury Research Program (TIRP) at the Military and Emergency Department of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland. As a full-service research and data analysis center, TIRP performs DoD funded research advancing the development of novel techniques to diagnose and treat Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to USUHS. The Administrative Assistant performs a wide range of administrative and clerical duties for the Program’s Principal Investigators and Support Staff. Work assignments may be complex in nature and moderate judgment is required in resolving problems.


  • Printing, copying, collating, material for insertion into binders.
  • Answers phones, and takes and delivers messages.  Provides information to callers as needed and appropriate regarding the Center’s activities and operations.
  • Sets up and maintains documentation and study files for several ongoing human subjects’ research studies.
  • Maintains the lab calendar, and makes arrangements for meetings as necessary.
  • Assists with initiating, organizing, completing department projects.
  • Prepares and sorts mail, and incoming supply and equipment deliveries.
  • Performs typing assignments such as literature reviews, memos to staff, and study flyers design
  • Operates automated office equipment as needed.
  • Determines new procedures for TIRP as necessary.
  • Provides and maintains department office supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Proficiency with productivity suites like MS Office and Adobe Acrobat; Exceptional communication skills and professionalism;

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree; Psychology and/or Statistics background preferred.

Minimum Experience:  0-2 year’s office experience

Physical Capabilities:  Needs to be able to stand for extended periods of time while copying, binding, and dealing with supplies.

Work Environment:  Office environment.
