HJF is seeking a Program Manager/Sponsored Project Administrator (SPA) to support the Microbiology and Immunology Center at the Uniformed Services University (USU) located in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to USU.
The candidate will be responsible for coordinating a wide range of grants, contracts and administrative duties in support of the HJF’s research, education and training mission at the Uniformed Services University (USU).
This position focuses on providing administrative project oversight in order to maximize the effective use of project resources. Specific tasks include: coordination of proposal submission, financial and administrative management of faculty awards (including management of budget and expenses related to personnel, travel, equipment and supplies, as well as oversight of subcontracts and regulatory compliance), and coordination of financial performance analysis, reporting, and oversight on project closeout.
The incumbent will work with multiple principal investigators and under the general supervision of the Director of USU Services.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed to work in a team environment. Organized, self-motivated and detail oriented, with highly developed financial project management capabilities. Ability to work independently, use sound judgment in solving problems and coordinate many complex processes and programs simultaneously and under short timelines. Experience managing budgets and procurement with federal funds. A strong client/customer orientation is required.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum Experience: 2-4 years of direct experience in scientific award management, including proposal submission and knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance regarding administration of federal awards. Salary commensurate with experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Reports to the Director, USU Services.\
Work Environment: Office and University environment.
