The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) is looking for a Supply Assistant to support research and program objectives at the Naval Medical Research Unit ‐ San Antonio (NAMRU‐SA). HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NAMRU-SA at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Performs warehousing and material handling tasks in accordance with established procedures and proven techniques for the facility.
  • Locates and places resupply items and new items in proper storage location.  Maintains the shelves and supplies in a well-stocked manner.
  • Ensures that each ordered item matches the accompanying purchasing paperwork. 
  • Maintains the facility in a clean and orderly manner, including shifting shelving units, relocating books and materials, dusting all shelving, removing all trash, debris, packing material, etc.  Locates material in appropriate temporary or permanent storage area according to routine operations or specific oral and/or written instructions
  • Delivers supplies and incoming materials to the respective departments within the facility.
  • Operates computer terminal and ensures that information on each received item is transmitted to the main computer.  The information to be posted includes the account number, title or item description, quantity, cost, etc…
  • Assists with the facility's control of accountable equipment.  Completes the facility's inventory of equipment and assists the property management office with the annual audit of equipment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Knowledge of the Navy’s Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support System (DMLLS); The work at this level requires knowledge of DoD supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions;  This knowledge is used to conduct extensive and exhaustive searches for required information; and
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel Software programs.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:

  • High School diploma and at least three years of experience in the ordering, receipt, and management of equipment and supplies ‐ preferably within the Department of Defense
