The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) is looking for a Program Coordinator-Deputy to support research and program objectives at the Naval Medical Research Unit ‐ San Antonio (NAMRU‐SA). HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NAMRU-SA at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Facilitates information flow between program members, scientific directors, and the command.
  • Provides advice on manpower utilization, work flow, and operational procedures to increase efficiency, productivity, and make overall improvements for the program.
  • Coordinates the decision‐making process between all program participants.
  • Coordinates, and conducts in‐house personnel actions and furnishes guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Oversees contract budgets to ensure fiscal compliance.
  • Assists with the preparation of requests for contract actions and proposals. 
  • Aids in coordinating monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. 
  • Track the progress of programs or projects to ensure milestones and benchmarks are met. 
  • Provide support to the Department Head and scientists in writing and editing protocol‐driven research proposals, technical report, final reports, and peer reviewed manuscripts.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Experienced with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher. 
  • General knowledge of medical and research terminology.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have interpersonal skills and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in drafting and processing manuscripts, technical proposals and grants. 
  • Able to review and edit published documents for public release.
  • Provide research management support and assistance to the Principal Investigator(s) assigned.
  • Facilitates information flow between program members, Program Scientific Directors, and the contractor.
  • Provides oversight to budgets, accounting, and purchasing and facilitates payment of invoices/purchase orders. 
  • As needed, supervises lower level contractor program members.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 – 4 years of experience, preferably within the Department of Defense
