The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) is looking for a Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician to support research and program objectives at the Naval Medical Research Unit ‐ San Antonio (NAMRU‐SA). HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NAMRU-SA.

Responsibilities:

  1. Designs, implements, tests and maintains hardware systems involving electronic components, radiation detectors and computer interfaces. 
  2. Balances the technological and biological issues associated with the desired systems. 
  3. Designs, implements, tests and maintains new software programs involving entirely new software and modifications and extensions to existing software packages.
  4. Solves problems associated with day-to-day operation of PET scanners and the hardware and software associated with their operation.
  5. Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge of relevant technological developments in hardware and software design and develop a thorough understanding of the underlying physics, mathematics and physiology of PET.
  6. Consults with physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists and technologists.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to install, maintain, service, modify, troubleshoot and calibrate a variety of environmental compliance devices by interpreting engineering and vendor information, schematic diagrams and graphic illustrations.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Physiology, Neurophysiology, Neuroscience, Immunology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related fields.

Minimum Experience:  BMET certified with at least five years of experience in the repair and maintenance of dental products and equipment
