HJF is seeking an Epidemiologist to support the Division of Military Epidemiology and Population Sciences of the John P. Murtha Cancer Center (MCC) Rockville Office located at Rockville, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to MCC.
The John P. Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed Bethesda is a modern, patient-centric, tri-service military healthcare facility. Its comprehensive core of military and civilian oncologists and other cancer-trained clinicians and researchers provide multidisciplinary cancer-care delivery and patient-family support services. Our Cancer Center, the only DoD Cancer Center of Excellence within the Military Health System, offers its patients access to cutting-edge cancer diagnostic and treatment technologies.
The incumbent will assist in the development of biomedical research protocols and projects, manipulate databases including large complex data sets, perform data analyses, write scientific papers, and provide epidemiological and biostatistical support for research projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge and ability to use complex epidemiologic research methods for assessing the risk of cancer in humans and related factors; ability to evaluate and consolidate complex databases; ability to use knowledge/methodology in cancer epidemiology, prevention and control; advanced knowledge in computer programming with experience in multivariate statistical methods; knowledge of statistical and data management software including SAS, SPSS, ACCESS and so on; excellent written and oral communication skills
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Master degree in Epidemiology or a related discipline.
Minimum Experience: 1-2 years plus of working experience in epidemiological research and statistical analysis.
Physical Capabilities: Requires long periods of working at a computer; may lift heavy materials
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Must be a US citizen to meet the DoD database requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: n/a
Work Environment: Office environment.
Must be a US Citizen and pass a favorable National Agency Check.
