HJF is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to support the Biospecimen Repository at the Center for Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine (CNRM) in Rockville, Maryland.   HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CNRM. Responsibilities are to perform laboratory procedures, to assist supervisors with experiments and to provide support in various areas as needed.


  1. Trained in sterile technique with the ability to perform processing and cryopreservation of biological specimens. Specimen processing includes, but is not limited to basic blood fractionation and aliquoting.
  2. Shipping and receiving specimens (IATA certification)
  3. Experience following SOPs and knowledge of GLP/GMP guidelines
  4. Good attention to detail
  5. Maintain excellent documentation skills
  6. Basic computer skills for data entry, label printing, reports etc.
  7. Travel between home office and clinical sites when needed
  8. Freezer monitoring
  9. Assists in ensuring that equipment is in good working order or is in need of repair.
  10. Assist in ordering supplies as needed.
  11. Assists in training laboratory personnel on lab procedures and operations of instrumentation/equipment.
  12. Assist in responding to freezer alarms and troubleshooting
  13. Performs other duties assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Technical knowledge of scientific disciplines; knowledge of and skill in tissue culture technique and handling biological hazards and their safe use and disposal;

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Associates degree in Biology or two years of college level courses with emphasis on science.

Minimum Experience:  2 to 4 years

Physical Capabilities:  Must be able to lift 50 lbs, handle a variety of chemicals; requires long periods of sitting and standing.
