HJF is seeking a Junior Scientist to support the Neurotactical Research Program (NTRP) in the USU Department of Neurology at the Marine Corps Base in Camp Pendleton, CA. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NTRP. Incumbent is responsible for developing and supervising research projects and investigating the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems.


  1. Formulates experimental hypotheses and designs experimental protocols.
  2. Travels to Niland and Coronado to collect data from trial subjects.  Processes and interprets data obtained from subjects.
  3. Trains new NTRP staff.
  4. Coordinates with other technical and professional staff.
  5. Prepares written reports, manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and human subject’s protocols as needed.
  6. Maintains a safe work environment with appropriate training of other personnel. 
  7. Provides collaborative assistance to other Research Scientists that require the incumbent's expertise.
  8. Completes other projects as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Knowledge of applicable complex scientific procedures and techniques; excellent communication skills; ability to troubleshoot technical procedures; ability to work independently and supervise others

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  PhD in related scientific discipline

Minimum Experience:  2 to 4 years related research experience

Physical Capabilities:  Work involves long periods of standing and working in mobile units in desert.

Work Environment:  Mobile environment; may require working evenings and weekends; may involve working with human samples
